“Danki Dios ta Diabierna” in Papiamento, literally translates to “Thank God It's Friday”.
This project revolves around the complex formation of identity over time, and the social & cultural influences that surround it. The work is very much like an anthropology study in which I use my camera, myself and the Caribbean background as reference tools for this research, in the environment where I was born and raised, Aruba. A post-colonial island with a neo-colonial reality. Especially in these turbulent times which have shown clear traces of the effects of westernization and globalization in my homeland and people. In hope of answering the age-long question; Who Am I? And Why Am I Who I Am?

“Untaken” is a personal project that began when I purchased expired polaroid film and was let down once I found out the film was dried-out and unusable. Later playing on the idea of memories of my childhood when I once lived in Colombia for a very short period of time but still having vivid memories of the landscapes and emotions felt during this time.
